HILDE VAN DE WALLE

Sculptures, ceramics, bronze

Already in exhibition

Lives and works in rural Velzeke (Zottegem). Her studio is in the middle of the garden. It is the place where she can fully devote herself to the process of thinking and creating. An intense form of dialogue with her sculptures.
Worked as a teacher of spatial formation and model drawing at the Arteveldehogeschool in Ghent.

Working in her studio in combination with teaching was for her the ultimate symbiosis. Her visual work includes sculptures in bronze and composite. The appreciation of her work is confirmed to date by exhibitions at home and abroad and several realizations in public buildings, public spaces, traffic circles and squares.

Philosophy

Hilde Van de Walle investigates the mystery behind human beings. She wants to achieve maximum eloquence with her images. For her, this is a permanent quest to unfold a strong image with as little readable indication as possible.
Her images are a stationary fraction of a movement in which the viewer can question or fill in the preceding or following of this action.
The imagery is idiosyncratic, disrupting common anatomy into its own proportions, deliberately eliminating parts of the body into a pure form of expression.

Their understated charisma stimulates dialogue with the environment and the viewer, even the residual space around and between the sculptures are not voids but resonate as a sounding board of what cannot be grasped.
